Why a planet picture has no animals yet
Finding life is part of the surprise.
Visit a planet
Plants may already appear in its view. You may also see that fauna live there.
Explore and meet the fauna
Keep scanning or exploring until that creature appears in a wild encounter. You do not have to capture it.
Look again
That encountered creature can now appear in the planet scene, including its journal and planet share picture.
