UNKNOWN / YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy policy

LAST UPDATED OCTOBER 20, 2026

Your adventure is saved on your device. UNKNOWN has no developer account to create, advertising network, or developer-operated gameplay server. Optional Apple services and nearby multiplayer have their own data flows, explained below.

1. Who is responsible

UNKNOWN is an iPhone and iPad game developed by Jonathan Swift, operating through Swiftwhere. This policy describes the current game and its microsite. For privacy questions, email support@swiftwhere.com.

2. Information kept on your device

The game stores progress locally: discovered worlds and species, owned pets and their names, levels and health, inventory, credits, purchase-delivery records, puzzles, battles, expeditions, relay messages, rewards, settings, and personal records. It also keeps technical state needed to recover interrupted saves, battles, purchases, and trades.

These records run the game and protect progress. UNKNOWN does not upload your whole save to a developer server. The game has no developer-run cloud-save or cross-device save-sync service. Game Center is not a backup of your pets, credits, or story progress.

Local information remains until the app or its data is removed, subject to device storage and Apple backup settings. Deleting the app can remove your save. A device backup may contain app data according to your Apple settings. The developer cannot remotely retrieve, edit, or delete your local save.

3. Game Center and online battles

Game Center is optional. If you connect, Apple provides authentication, player identifiers and display information, matchmaking, rankings, and achievement services. The game submits relevant scores and achievement progress to Apple. Rankings may display your Game Center alias and results according to Apple’s settings and service rules.

Online battles exchange the gameplay information needed to run and validate a match, such as selected pets, names, levels, moves, available battle supplies, and turn actions. Your opponent receives information needed to show and play that match. Do not put private information in a pet name you intend to show to another player.

Apple controls Game Center accounts and service data. See Game Center & Privacy and your device’s Game Center settings for Apple’s practices and sharing controls.

4. Nearby battles and local trading

If you choose nearby play, the game uses Apple’s local-network discovery and encrypted Multipeer Connectivity sessions. Other discoverable players can see the player or session name used to find you. The connected peer receives relevant pet, item, offer, and battle information so the activity can work. Trade and transaction state is saved locally to help prevent duplicate delivery and recover interruptions.

UNKNOWN requests Local Network access for these features. You may decline or change this permission in iOS Settings; solo play remains available. The game does not need your precise location, contacts, microphone, or camera for nearby discovery, and does not provide a public chat or player-content feed.

5. Optional credit purchases

Apple processes credit-pack payments through the App Store. UNKNOWN uses StoreKit to request product information, verify transactions, deliver the purchased credits, and remember delivered transaction identifiers so the same purchase is not paid out twice. Unfinished verified delivery may be retried.

The game does not receive your payment-card details. Apple handles account, billing, and payment information under App Store & Privacy. Credit packs are consumables; they do not create a developer account or a cloud-synced balance.

6. Cards, Photos, and sharing

If you make a share card, the game creates an image from the discovery or pet you selected. A custom nickname shown on the card becomes part of that image. Apple’s share sheet lets you choose whether and where to send it. The destination you choose handles the shared image under its own policies.

Saving an image may request permission to add it to Photos. This feature does not require reading your whole photo library. Choosing not to share or save leaves the card in the game.

7. No advertising or developer analytics

The current app does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics SDKs. The developer does not sell your personal information or use your gameplay for targeted advertising.

Apple may process App Store, Game Center, and optional device or crash diagnostics under its own policies and your Apple settings. This is separate from the game sending a save to a developer server.

8. Support communications

If you email support, the developer receives your email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. That information is used to answer your request, investigate a problem, keep necessary support correspondence, and meet applicable obligations. Email providers process messages to deliver and store them.

Support information is retained only as needed for those purposes. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of support information by contacting the address below. Available rights depend on your location and applicable law. Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, or unnecessary sensitive information.

9. Children and family controls

UNKNOWN does not require a developer account or deliberately collect personal information from children. Apple provides device controls for purchases, Game Center, and multiplayer through Screen Time and account settings. A parent or guardian with a concern about information a child sent to support can contact the developer.

10. This website

Visiting this microsite creates ordinary web requests. The hosting provider may process IP addresses, requested URLs, browser details, and technical logs to deliver and protect the site. The current site has no advertising trackers, analytics integration, sign-up form, or account system. Help-center searches filter the guide list in your browser; the site does not send a search to a developer search service.

The shared Swiftwhere site loads typography from Google Fonts. Those requests disclose the technical information needed to serve the font files. See Google Fonts privacy information. External links, email services, and Apple pages operate under their own policies.

11. Policy updates

If features or data practices change, this policy will be updated with a revised date. Material changes will be explained here.
